One of the benefits of living in San Diego is that I get to go to a ton of fun events just a short drive away up in Los Angeles. Having lived in Westwood for six years, I have a soft spot for beautiful Beverly Hills and trendy West Hollywood. I love taking these opportunities to visit my old stomping grounds, especially since it gives me a good excuse to go visit family in the area.
Last weekend I packed up Some Boy, picked up my mom and headed up into the hills to a gorgeous mansion for a fun event called, “20 Magic Minutes: A Family Celebration.” The event was hosted by LG to raise awareness about their new mega-capacity TurboWash washer, which saves 20 minutes off the traditional load time. My mom and I were able to take part in awesome activities at the event in celebration of this extra family time, with things like 20 minute manicures, pizza making, spin art, cupcake decorating and more. And best of all, the whole thing was for charity: LG made a very generous donation to Right Action for Women, which was started by Christina Applegate to provide aid to individuals at increased risk for breast cancer who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford treatment.
Christina Applegate, of course, showed up to thank the company for their donation and for making it possible for thousands more women to get screened for breast cancer, getting the help they need in spite of any financial difficulties they may be facing.
Some Boy could NOT get enough of these washing machines. Possibly because we have a lame old scratched-up top-loader back home, he was fascinated by the fact that he could actually see the water whirling around. I literally couldn’t peel him away from the demo machines. The company even set it up so that some of the washers would keep running with the doors open. Let me tell you, that BLEW his little one-year-old mind.
Of course, celebrities were all over the mansion gardens checking out the activities, but Some Boy took QUITE a special liking to this little celebrity baby: Melissa Rycroft and Tye Strickland’s precious Ava. He followed her around like a lost puppy and kept photo-bombing the family’s snapshots. I guess I’ll eventually have to teach him some Hollywood etiquette as he was quite literally drooling over the stars!
