A couple weeks ago, Some Boy starting going through this phase where he would cry every single time he ate. The constant sobs were unnerving and exhausting, but what was worse was that we didn't know what was wrong with him. He was clearly in pain, but we couldn't figure out what the deal was. We tried burping, smaller feedings, every colic drop you can imagine. Nothing worked. We finally took him to the doctor and found the culprit: acid reflux. Poor dude had burning acid coming up his esophagus every time we fed him. That probably would've made me cry, too! The doctor promptly put him on a prescription and told us to give him some baby probiotics daily to calm his sensitive stomach. Some Boy has been a much happier camper the last couple weeks.
This all got me thinking…I have a sensitive stomach, too. I don't have acid reflux or anything like that, but I've always been one of those people who describes my stomach as “touchy.” Spicy foods wreak havoc on me. I get car sick, plane sick, boat sick. If probiotics are helping Some Boy with his issues, they can probably help me too. So I started adding Member's Mark 4X probiotics to my daily routine as well. Honestly, I've been finding that my stomach seems more settled in general. I'll be back in a week or so with a full report on the results of my little experiment and a giveaway.
