Spending time on the road is hard. It’s not just because of packing or staying in small tight places. It’s not even the lack of bathing (even though Chelsea can stink it up a bit). No, one of the reasons traveling is hard for us is that when we return home, it can be difficult to unwind.
We’ve usually returned from some beautiful place, and our standards have temporarily been raised. Plus all that road time can make us a bit cranky, even with the people we love. But what is a family of five (for now) supposed to do? Go on another vacation to some resort? Our pocket books just couldn’t take it. Coined term only. I use a wallet. Pocket book? Who SAYS that? Fortunately, we have a solution.
With as much time as I spend there and lessons I glean from the place, you could almost say I go to Home Depot University (HDU, as us hip kids call it). One convenient “class” I recently took was in the course of cool. Good old Cool 102 with Professor Chill. One product available at Home Depot is Arctic Cove. You may remember that we took some of their smaller and more portable fans to the desert to create a remote oasis through our partnership with them. What I discovered in-store the other day, however, was something MUCH BIGGER. The Arctic Cove ‘Polar Party' shone like a knight in shining water-misting-and-music-playing armor. It even comes with a light for warding off evil spirits.
In all seriousness, its stainless steel clad body is classy and looks good everywhere around the house.
We connected our bluetooth to it and Chelsea started playing late '90s girl jams as the kids and I played with a remote control boat we picked up. Because when we bring the vacation feeling home, we go all out.
With just one of the included batteries, we were comfortably misting in no time. I even boosted some of the play time by swapping in one of our compatible Ryobi tool batteries I have in the shop. Running on batteries, it can be moved to whatever location I need depending on our party needs – no stressing out about outlets.
Even when our nights get hot and dry, the Polar Party helps bring down the heat. Well, when the boys are asleep and Chelsea and I hang by the pool, it brings down the temperature. But the heat…yeah, the heat’s still there. Even with romantic music and the perfect amount of mood lighting.
Living on a small farm in San Diego never felt better.
