Chocolate. Bacon. Chocolate bacon? Oh yes. This combination seems so wrong and yet it tastes sooooo right. The chocolate bacon trend has taken over on Pinterest, Food Network, and in our very own kitchen.
One of the things I like most about chocolate bacon recipes is that there’s a combination to please almost everyone. Except vegetarians. And vegans. And people who don’t eat pork for religious reasons or whatever. There are sweet, dessert-y combinations and bite-sized appetizer options. Main courses with chocolatey mole sauce and savory chili with deep, tangy flavors.
Chocolate Bacon for All
I developed a taste for chocolate bacon when I decided to make bacon hearts covered in chocolate. Somewhat purist, I know. The love affair grew from there as I got more daring, adding bits of bacon and dark chocolate shavings into various sweet recipes and finally moving into sauces and decorative chocolate bacon confections.
The unlikely pairing makes frequent appearances at my kitchen table.
