Last month I shared some Disney Holidays sights with you after Disneyland hosted our family at the resort. That post has been so popular, I wanted to share how to experience the best of Downtown Disney Christmas this year!
There are some amazingly festive things to do and see in the area surrounding the park. You don’t even have to go into Disneyland or California Adventure to experience a little magic this season. Here’s how to make it a Downtown Disney Christmas.
What to see at Downtown Disney Christmas
Olaf’s Frozen Ice Rink is open for 60-minute skating sessions from 3 to 10pm Sunday through Thursday and 3 to 11pm Friday and Saturday.
Downtown Disney Winter Village offers holiday shopping with tons of “Frozen” items and specialty gifts such as holiday crystal, art, clothes and accessories sold from the windows of cute little village houses. Hot chocolate from Ghirardelli and coffee and sweets from La Brea Bakery are also available.
Take a little break at the Starbucks for Downtown Disney Christmas treats, including a giant touch screen board that will keep the kiddos entertained while you sip your gingerbread latte.
Visit Anna & Elsa’s Boutique to get a special character-themed makeover and browse through an overwhelming selection of all things Frozen.
Check out Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen at specially designated times for Gingerbread House workshops. You can even enjoy turducken on Christmas Day.
See the six-foot-high gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa during Downtown Disney Christmas. Then, kick back by the fireplace in the lobby and enjoy their stunning Christmas tree. You don’t have to book a room at the hotel to enjoy the festivities. If you do decide to overnight in conjunction with a visit to the parks, you’ll enjoy an exclusive Extra Magic Hour that allows hotel guests admission to select attractions in the park a full hour before the public. Currently, Disneyland’s Extra Magic Hour is on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and California Adventure Park opens early on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Best of all: at Downtown Disney Christmas, you can get 3 hours of free parking – up to 5 with validation from participating locations. That makes this a super-cheap way to experience Disney festivity with the family.
