You know we’re always down for fun ice cream party ideas, so when I saw some “creepy crawly” themed cupcakes on Pinterest the other day, I just had to do an ice cream party version of it.
I picked up some Smart & Final vanilla bean ice cream and prepped for the party by freezing scoops individually on parchment paper for about a day. This helps them become nice and firm so that they don’t melt as quickly while guests decorate them (we did the same thing for our ice cream clown party last year).
We laid out a ton of fun snack and candy ingredients for people to use to decorate their creepy crawly ice cream creations, including red vines, pretzel sticks, salt water taffy, Oreos, gummy worms, raisins, and some cake sprinkles and food dye pens.
There were some seriously clever creations, ranging from the creepy and crawly to the very pretty.
The googly eyes and flaily legs made this spider look just friendly enough to eat.
I loved this simple idea for an earth worm made out of taffy!
Although I have to admit, it was a bit of a struggle determining what every creation was. I think this here is a mosquito that somehow looks like a mouse, and a squished bumble bee.
Ants on a hill.
And this one is actually an old family recipe that my grandma made up when we were kids: worms and Oreo “dirt” on ice cream.
I know you’re all just waiting for pictures of the baby with his ice cream. Here ya go. He agrees with me that Smart & Final’s vanilla bean is the best. It’s fun to have ice cream that you can dress up a little. We did eventually break out the whipped cream and hot fudge sauce.
