family hanging out at Pacific Edge

A couple weeks ago, I packed up the little babers and met my mom up near her stomping grounds in Laguna Beach to do a review of Pacific Edge Hotel. I know, I have a really rough job.

Pacific Edge Hotel: Where we Get Away from it All

Pacific Edge activities

Living along the California coast, Pacific Edge has been a favorite destination for my family for awhile now. Last summer we had a pre-baby party with pals over at the bungalows, Pacific Edge's beachfront day rooms that can be reserved to provide all-day shore access to larger groups. What I love about Pacific Edge is that they have a ton of unique rooming options and activities to provide the perfect fit for any visitor looking to enjoy an upscale, easy vacation. Guided activities for kids, special meeting spaces for businesses, custom suite configurations, recreational classes. You name it, they have whatever you need.

the deck restaurant at Pacific Edge

When I'm in the area on weekdays I like to pop into their beachfront restaurant, The Deck, from 4-6pm for the best happy hour with the most stunningly phenomenal view. The hotel provides shorefront seating for patrons and towels for guests, so this is a great place to grab a drink or a quick bite and relax on the beach without having to hassle with a ton of gear. Bonus points for live music on Thursdays and convenient, inexpensive valet (you can usually find street parking as well, if you're up for a bit of a hike). I recommend arriving early or calling to reserve an oceanfront table because this place gets packed fast.

amenities at Pacific Edge

The amenities don't end on the shore. When I visited this last time, Pacific Edge put us up in a beach front king room with all the amenities of home. I was equally as impressed with the fully stocked refrigerator and Keurig as I was with the jaw-dropping ocean vistas. Some Boy had a meltdown in the lobby at check-in (poor dude really wasn't feeling great all weekend) and the sweet receptionist sent up a sand pail full of treats, little toys and coloring books to keep him busy. I'll confess I nabbed his cookies for a midnight snack.

Pacific Edge bedding

Their modern, fresh beachy decor has become the inspiration for my office revamp at home.

Pacific Edge suite

I got a phenomenal night sleep with the kids tucked safely away in their hotel-provided cribs in the adjoining double queen room. I love that the hotel offers the option to book adjoining rooms for the kiddos. This added space essentially turned our king oceanfront into a family-friendly suite, and the simple “bonus” room had its own bathroom with a tub (kid-friendly bath time for the win!), a mini fridge and a TV just for them.

I enjoyed lounging on the ocean front balcony and taking in the amenities of my king room. A long, comfortable desk and in-room bluetooth stereo set the tone for me to actually get some work done first thing in the morning.

Pacific Edge photography

The boys and I wandered around the property and found gorgeous nooks for photography. This place would make a stunning wedding backdrop.

Pacific Edge bungalows

And then, of course, we spent a little downtime focusing on my favorite hotel feature: the bungalows. Ah, sweet Pacific Edge bungalows. I love these little lounges so much that I created a 30-second video tour to give you the feel of the place.

What do you think? I'm inclined to start making 30-second tours a feature here on the site. Because really, who can't dedicate 30 seconds to get a feel for a spot?

Hang loose! Where does your crew head when you need to get away from it all?
