I had the rare opportunity to sneak away to the pool sans-kids the other day! Packing hastily, I grabbed my own personal essentials and shoved them into a pool bag for myself, realizing that it had been quite awhile since I geared up solely for one. Usually, swim diapers and floaties and squirt guns take priority.
This time around, it was just me and my water bottle and my little baby bump.
I claimed a cabana and laid out my pool bag stuff, reveling in all the space!
A couple friends from the conference I was attending started slowly gathering nearby. “Wow, Chels, you are nothing if not prepared.”
The Essential Trendy Mom Pool Bag Packing List
My list of personal items is concise, but complete. Towel, water, lip balm, snacks (chewy candies are helping with my pregnancy nausea lately), sunscreen, hair oil, brush and deodorant.
The hair stuff and deodorant helps keep me put-together in case I need to run to a meeting or dinner in a hurry after taking a dip. Water and lip balm help battle sun damage, but the majority of space in my bag is taken up by sunscreen. I’ve become kind of a sunscreen nut since becoming more informed about toxins and skin safety.
Sidekick and I have had a couple weird reactions to chemicals in sunscreens, so I asked our dermatologist for recommendations and she raved about Blue Lizard. The brand has worked so well for us, we got in touch with them to partner and spread the word to our readers!
This full spectrum sunscreen has every single ingredient listed so delicate-skinned people like us can pick and choose the best option. I personally pack the brand’s Sensitive, Baby and Face formulas to cover all of our family’s needs. Each one has an SPF 30+. The Baby and Sensitive rely solely on mineral and physical ingredients Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide with no parabens or fragrances, while the Regular and Sport versions also use chemical absorbers to provide water-resistant protection for 80 minutes. The Face formula is a gel with antioxidants including green tea, caffeine and vitamin E so we won’t walk away with chapped cheeks or oily pores!
The BPA free Smart Bottle™ changes color when exposed to UV light, so it’s easy for me to help teach the kids about UV rays. Even in partial shade, they can see that coverage is important!Pool packing? What you need to stay hydrated, sun-safe and ready for your next activity.Click To Tweet
