We’re extremely fortunate that Some Boy’s cousins are just a couple years older than him, so he gets a ton of awesome hand-me-downs from his buddies. There are a couple things we still wind up missing, though, as some kids clothes inevitably get too beat up to be handed down or they aren’t the right fit for the season. We’ve been lacking in summer outfits these last couple months and I wanted something new and cute for a couple summer parties we have lined up. I went shopping for kids clothes online and was amazed at the awesome deals we scored.
I put together this studly little outfit over on Cookie’s Kids for less than $30 shipped (yes, including the shoes!). Cookie’s Kids was started by a guy named Cookie and his brother, Marvin, back in 1972 in Queens. They opened the day after Thanksgiving and were an instant hit with a full stock of holiday toys. They quickly expanded to include children’s clothing and soon there were six superstores throughout the NYC area. Cookie’s Kids branched out to CookiesKids.com in 2007, originally selling school uniforms and eventually integrating the entire Cookie’s Kids inventory. I love supporting family-run businesses (and find that I save a ton of money when I do), so I’m thrilled to be able to get Some Boy’s clothes at a discount through the site.
Everything showed up new with tags reflecting their actual retail value. Holy cow! Who spends $38 on shorts for kids?
Shopping for Kids Clothes Online: How I Save Money
I saved over 60% by shopping on Cookie’s Kids.
I’m absolutely smitten with this shirt color and how it matches his eyes perfectly. Some Boy is constantly getting compliments about how beautiful his eyes are.
Once I felt them a bit, I understood why these Raiders cargo shorts retail for over $35 in stores. They’re super-sturdy so I don’t anticipate any holey knees anytime soon (a problem we’ve often dealt with as our little dude can walk, but prefers to crawl or do what I call the “pigmy walk,” scooting along on his knees). I’m pretty dang thrilled that we got them for $7 by shopping for kids clothes online.
We fly through shoe sizes around here, so shopping for kids clothes online helps save us a ton when it comes to kids shoes, which often cost as much as $30 alone. These ones made by Scott David are sturdy and supportive, and don’t hinder Some Boy’s natural walking ability. It’s really important to get quality shoes when kids are learning to walk. I also love that the colors – brown and black – make these super-versatile and they’ll go with almost any outfit I put together.
