When I was a kid, the nearest mall was over half an hour away. It was a huge drag to drive all that distance, but my sister and I actually looked forward to those trips because my mom would always take us to TCBY. For those of you who aren’t froyo connoisseurs like myself, TCBY stands for “The Country’s Best Yogurt.” And it really was the best frozen yogurt. Even amidst all the froyo shops nowadays, this classic still holds its own.
Nate and I wanted to have a little ice cream housewarming party at our new place (with the theme being “Cooling Down the House”…heh, get it?) and decided that TCBY’s new #TCBYGrocery line of frozen yogurt was the perfect fit. They had a lot of tasty flavors at our Walmart: strawberry, mint chocolate, cookies & cream, vanilla, along with a few novelty treats like ice cream sandwiches, fudgesicles and orangesicles (check out my Google+ shop for all the flavors I found). I saw over on TCBY’s Facebook page that they even have an English Toffee, which I’m dying to try, but our store was out of it. The company even has a Twitter page, too. Nothing like being able to @message your frozen yogurt!
I was ridiculously excited about the cute packaging of their grocery store frozen yogurt, largely because it goes perfectly with the colorful springtime theme I wanted for the party. I’ve been seeing rainbowy party themes all over the place lately and I was dying to throw one of my own.
I’ve also slowly been adding colorful accents to my white porcelain dishware. Slowly but surely with a bowl here, a fork there. I got these colorful serving spoons just the other day at Crate & Barrel. It’s like they were made just for this frozen yogurt.
These cute little bowls were a wedding gift and have been sort of the inspiration for my kitchen ware. I love the funky colors and they’re the perfect size for just a little bit of the best frozen yogurt on the planet. That way I can try more flavors!
I thought about taking all of the creamsicles out of their containers and displaying them in some sort of dish, but then I remembered that our friends are more “help yourself” type of people. They always tease me for making such a big deal out of everything (whoever doesn’t think that party banners need to match the linens perfectly just doesn’t understand me), so I decided to leave them to their own devices with some toppings, sides like cookies and brownie bites, nuts and various sauces.
Oh yeah…there were bananas! We’re totally healthy now. I actually do feel slightly less guilty eating frozen yogurt than plain old ice cream. It has less calories AND it has probiotics, y’all. This stuff is good for my stomach.
It’s good for Some Boy’s stomach, too!
