After reading the first book in The Doppler Ganger Chronicles, I was excited to get my hands on the second. The Secret of Indigo Moon picks up where The First Escape left off as the three main characters investigate several mysteries in a wild new adventure. The story has the typical twists and turns of this sort of quirky novel and is engaging for kids in grades 4-8, albeit a little difficult to follow at times.
What really makes this series unique is the variety that it offers to hold the attention of stubborn readers. The Dopple Ganger chronicles are written using a combination of traditional text, comic strips and graphics. For children who struggle to make their way through pages of text, these books are an interesting new format. And just as the author did in the last book, he leaves the reader on the edge of their seat to find out what happens next. The Dopple Ganger Chronicles help children enjoy reading, and will ease parents' stress about finding books that their kids won't get bored with two pages in.
