Today, as we celebrate America's independence, I always take a minute to think about other parts of the world where people aren't as fortunate as us. So when Whole Foods reached out to see if I'd be interested in hosting a giveaway to increase awareness about their latest initiative, I was pretty stoked about the timing. I've worked a lot with Whole Foods supporting their Vitamin Angels cause partner in the past. As a young mom, their efforts hit very close to home for me. They focusing on getting vitamins to people who need them most – pregnant women, new mothers and children under five.
Why Vitamin A?
Vitamin A is essential for healthy skin, teeth and vision. It's found in fatty meat and dairy products and in brightly-colored fruits and dark leafy vegetables (a lot of healthy, but high-priced items that aren't readily available to poor families in many countries throughout the world). Without sufficient Vitamin A, people are much more likely to develop serious infectious diseases and vision problems.
How does Vitamin Angels help?
Whenever you purchase any Whole Foods Market 365 Everyday Value supplements in stores, Whole Foods Market will donate 25 cents to Vitamin Angels and help provide vitamin A to an at-risk child for an entire year! Vitamin Angels targets areas that most governments don't, reaching the remaining 30% of undernourished children who are missed. They've now touched the lives of over 25 million children and mothers.
Select products from brands like Amazing Grass, Garden of Life, Jarrow Formulas, Reserveage, Nordic Naturals and Source Naturals will also be donating a portion of their sales to Vitamin Angels. I always choose this month to stock up on my 365 supplements because, if I'm buying it anyway, why NOT help others out?
