Last week, I had the wonderful opportunity to meet at The Cookie Chew bakery and discuss the relationship between impulse shopping and scent with Heather Ford on Fox 5 San Diego.
Owner Liz Chou started The Cookie Chew after realizing that her major in accounting was leading her into a career that just wasn't her. Now, she makes fascinating concoctions like stuffed truffle cookies and cocktail cookies, mirrored after some of her favorite drinks like White Russians and Coconut Lime Mojitos. I am absolutely blown away by her truffle cookies! How she gets the cookie to bake around the truffle is miraculous, and it's now become a small personal mission of mine to imitate the effect in my own kitchen one day. Libby's sells a similar truffle filled cookie, but the chocolate inside falls flat as opposed to staying nice and round like the kind from The Cookie Chew.
If you live in San Diego, be sure to stop by and take a look at Liz's cookies at the North Park Farmers Market on Thursdays from 3-7pm. Otherwise, check out the Cookie Chew website for interesting recipes and inspiring combinations like White Chocolate Cranberry Pistachio. Even if I can't duplicate Liz's truffle cookies myself, I will definitely be having some delicious cookies over the holidays!
