Today we're sharing how we take care of our small farm – and have fun while we're at it! I got to take the XT Enduro Series lawn tractor for a spin when I participated in an influencer activation on behalf of Cub Cadet.

Oh, what a feeling it is to be grown up. I mean, there's the bills, taxes, responsibility, parental duties and all that other fun stuff I always fantasized about. It's all mine now. I am free to do…whatever I want.

And by whatever I want, I mean stay up late and eat all the cookies. Unfortunately – contrary to my belief as a child – I cannot stomach a whole bag of Oreos. I NEVER thought I would say, “Eh, that's too sugary.” What happened to my plan? Things change, I guess.

What didn't change, however, was my love of the family farm. We don't run a dairy or pig farm. It's more of a family petting zoo combined with the utility of “organic mowers” and egg makers. And, as nice as it is to have those “organic mowers” (goats and sheep), they are not too quick and they leave behind unwanted pellets of…well, poo. There's poo everywhere. And they prefer to stick to the leaves and bushes instead of the grass. I needed a mower that takes commands a little better.

Cub Cadet has a nice solution to this with their XT Enduro Series lawn tractor. I love ride-on lawn mowers and have since my brother and I were old enough to take them for a spin around our property back in Oklahoma. I would specifically ask for any chore that could be done on the mower. Need firewood stacked in July? You got it! It should be no surprise that I was super excited when they said they wanted to send one over for us to play on test drive.

First off, one really great attribute I noticed about the Cub Cadet was that it doesn't leave those pesky pellets after a day of work.

As a big guy (on a grading scale I'd definitely be an A- to A on size), I thought the Cub Cadet was quite comfortable. My legs had room to stretch and the seat was nicely padded. Chelsea even remarked over how cushy it was, which is a big endorsement coming from someone who spends a good deal of time in a reclining pedicure massage chair.

Another thing I really liked was the snappy turning radius. This made turning around corners and staying tight to the wall a cinch. The Enduro Series lawn tractor features a muscular cutting system with heavy-duty stamped cutting deck options so we can get our lawn cut precisely to the level we want it. Their advanced belt system scoops up all the trimmings to minimize mess, and their corrosion defense system helps protect against wear and tear. Especially helpful if I happen to leave it out in the rain. Not that I would ever do that, you know, because I'm a responsible adult. Extra super-fantastic bonus? They have an unlimited hours 5-year chassis and front axle warranty with a 3-year powertrain warranty, coupled with a mobile app on select models to track performance and get maintenance alerts.

I also liked how simple the learning curve was. Chelsea got right on and got it going immediately. She was stressed about making a tight turn in our driveway, but got it zipped around in a circle without issue. It even had a number of attachments which were perfect for us on our little petting zoo. And did I mention the engine is quick? I never thought I'd describe a lawn mower as “zippy” and “responsive,” but this thing is fast.

I even made sure to have the boys hop in the composite trailer. It folds for easier storage and doesn't have the denting problem our press metal trailers have. This one was way more durable. They put a slanted back end into it for better dumping, which shows that they've actually tried and tested and thought through the true needs of a property like ours. The best part was that the boys loved it. And I loved it. With this wagon filled with my buddies, I was demonstrating responsibility, dedication, and so many other things that go into being a property-managing adult.

I may not be able to stomach a whole bag of cookies like I thought I would, but I still love riding on a mower and hauling my friends – sons, pets, blocks of wood, whatever the case may be – all over my little farm. It makes doing the chores so much more fun.
