Last spring, I had the pleasure of attending a conference called The Big Traveling Potluck up in Temecula. A ton of bloggers gathered with their most show-stopping dishes to listen to inspirational speakers and learn key tricks of the trade. And what did I come away with? Intimate knowledge about how to successfully take my own alcoholic concoctions on the road.
I'm totally winning these business conference thingies.
Jordan Catapano and Jocelyn Dunn Muhlbach, the sisters behind This Girl Walks Into a Bar, shared this remarkably easy step-by-step that I recently thought of as I prepped for the most romantic holiday of the year. DIY bottled cocktails would be a perfect Valentine's Day gift for a beverage-lover!
All you need is a bottle capper, bottles and bottle caps. Stir together your cocktail, fill the bottle and crimp the cap on by slowly squeezing the capper. That's it. Throw a custom label on there, tie on a bottle opener, fill up a carrier and you have a sweet and sentimental gift. I can totally envision college dudes whipping up their girl's favorite drink and taking it along on a romantic picnic.
Because all guys are that cutesy and thoughtful, right?
And they'll hold a boom box over their head while they're at it. With sweet puppy dog eyes and a dapper coat.
I may have watched Say Anything too many times.
My favorite drink, pretty and pink for Valentine's Day, is cleverly called the “Chelsea Woo Woo.” It's a spin off of something a bartender introduced me to on a family reunion cruise. Classy, I know. It'll help you woo the lover in your life.
Chelsea Woo Woo
- 1 oz Malibu Coconut rum
- 1 oz gin
- 1 oz tequila
- 1 oz pineapple juice
- 1 oz orange juice
- 1 oz maraschino liqueur
- Shake with ice.
- Add a squeeze of lime, if you feel so inclined.
If you happen to have a SodaStream, you can even carbonate your DIY bottled cocktails before serving! You can check out some more sexy cocktail suggestions over at This Girl Walks Into a Bar. They're all pretty drool-worthy, in my totally experienced opinion.
