Last week, I had the opportunity to get a facial at the Serenity Spa & Salon at the Hilton Garden Inn in San Diego as part of their Spa Week preview. Spa Week features $50 treatments at salons in select cities throughout the nation during the week of April 11-17. This is a great time to get discounts at upscale spas on treatments that are rarely ever discounted, such as prenatal massage, acupuncture, body wraps and more.

Spa Serenity

I'll admit I was a little bit nervous as the only facial I'd had before was one of those IPL photofacials where they zap every imperfection with a laser that feels like a rubber band snapping against your face. It made my skin really soft but it far from relaxing and the atmosphere was extremely clinical. Serenity Spa & Salon was light years away from that first spa experience. They welcomed me into a peaceful environment with glowing candles, soft music and fluffy robes. I was surprised when they invited me to get undressed for my facial the way most places do for a massage. It was clear that their primary concern was my absolute comfort.  For this 9-month pregnant woman, it was a welcome and refreshing change of pace!

Spa SerenityRebecca treated me with the utmost care during my 50 minute Serenity Customized European Facial with Yam & Pumpkin Enzyme Peel Upgrade. Everything she brushed onto my skin smelled delicious, and I was totally at ease knowing that the salon insists on high-quality organic ingredients as opposed to the harsh chemicals that so many places use nowadays. The facial evened out some blotchy areas on my face and the peel really stimulated my dull skin. I would highly recommend Serenity Spa to anyone looking for a truly relaxing experience. And during Spa Week, you can get even more for your money…you could even go for a facial and a massage!

Disclosure: Spa Week Media provided me with a complimentary 50 Min Serenity Customized European Facial With Yam & Pumpkin Enzyme Peel Upgrade treatment at Serenity Spa & Salon to facilitate this review. My opinions are entirely my own.
