With four kids 5 and under, I've learned that there are two distinct diaper bag modes. The first is simple. If we're running out for brief errands, I can grab a small clutch or stroller with a couple diapers and call it a day. If a food-or-clothing meltdown happens, we have backup stuff in the car. Or we just head home.

Then there's the weekender diaper bag. This is a whole other situation. Venturing out into the world for a lengthy amount of time, my trusty tote companion must be ready for all potential variables.

I pack ALL THE THINGS.

We're working with Ralphs, and their Simple Truth line of products has quickly become my favorite when it comes to consumable family stuff. It's inexpensive, it's accessible through the whole Kroger line of grocery stores, and it's a trustworthy choice for natural and organic options.

I used to spend a lot of time stressing over chemicals and ingredients in everything I bought for the kids. I'd worry about fragrances in their wipes, chlorine in their diapers, preservatives in their pouches, coloring in their snacks. Simple Truth's “101 Free” products are free from 101 ingredients that people often try to avoid (like high-fructose corn syrup and parabens) so when I see that label, I know that I can grab-and-go without a second thought.

Do you have any idea what a game-changer it is to be able to pick up store brand chlorine-free diapers while I'm on my weekly grocery run? No extra trips to big box stores. No need to place orders online. Game. Changed.

It's a good thing it's all budget-friendly, too, because these kids use up my supplies like they're going out of style!

I have a big bag with lots of compartments that holds diapers and wipes, a few baby outfits, and tons of snacks so we don't wind up having to stop five million times. There are pouches and rice crackers for the toddler and gluten-free animal crackers and rice cakes for the big boys.

In the outside pocket, I have my own little snack stash to keep me going. I drink a crazy amount of tea each day (caffeine for the win!) so it's handy to have my own bags at-the-ready. Dark chocolate has been my own little indulgence for years, and I'm obsessed with Simple Truth's Maca-blend bars. If you haven't heard of maca root, it has some pretty potent health benefits. Seriously, look it up. I also stash some Simple Truth White Chocolate Macadamia Nut energy bars in here because breastfeeding around-the-clock makes me hangry.

My handy-dandy side pouches each get put to good use: one carries electrolyte water and one carries my favorite lavender body wash. When Bam was born, a nurse at the hospital gave me organic body wash to clean my breast pump and take a shower with. I thought it was weird (shouldn't I use dish soap for the pump?). She explained that many organic body washes are mild enough to be used for everything from the baby bath to cleaning dishes at a campsite. I read the back of the Simple Truth Organic body wash bottle and she was right – it's all plant-based, safe stuff. There's now one stashed in the bag when we're overnighting elsewhere, and the whole family uses it to wash their hair and get minor stains out of our clothes while on-the-road.

Speaking of being on-the-road, I'm SO prepared with my pre-packed weekender diaper bag that I often find myself waiting for the rest of the family by the car. Talk about a change of pace! It feels good to be stocked up and ready to go at a moments' notice.
