I have a couple housekeepers come over every two weeks. There are five people in this home, three of whom still get time-outs on a regular basis…I needed a little help. Anyway, the weirdest thing started happening. I noticed a slow stirring amongst my furniture.
At first it was small: an end table would be across the room from where it started. Eventually, it crescendoed into a more blatant shuffling.
And then I came home one day to find my sofa on a completely different wall than where it started.
Pieces that didn't fit into her master plan were stashed in the spare room, swapped out for more complementary designs.
Not one to be particularly set in my ways, I went with it.
I figure Rosa's seen enough living rooms at this point that she has some thoughts about their placement. Who am I to stop her from expressing her deepest interior decorating urges in my home? Maybe it's cathartic, some bizarre form of personal therapy for her.
Or I don't pay her enough, and she secretly hates me.
There are quite a few things I've scooted back into their original location when she was done, but this one has weirdly survived the test of time.
Probably because sofas are heavy, and I'm lazy.
Nate and I actually have a big master plan for this room, and some of the changes are already starting to take shape. Say goodbye to these peach-y walls, you guys. Maybe that's why we're inclined to go with the flow. We know that ultimately, our furniture's fate is pre-determined. What happens between now and then doesn't make a huge difference.
Would you throw a fit if someone started moving your stuff around?
The most important contemplation of this post, I believe, is this: angled furniture…yay or nay?
