Ready to take advantage of the lovely weather that's slowly making its way into town? Take note of our family's favorite quick picnic recipes to make life a little easier!
These have become our go-to picks for when we're around town and decide we want an impromptu spread under an open sky. No muss, no fuss…all of this stuff can be nabbed in one quick stop with zero planning required.
We were visiting our sponsor ALDI for their grand opening in Anaheim the other day, and decided that we should make it a picnic afternoon since we were surrounded by SO much fresh food! We grabbed some chicken slider fixings, sliced pineapple, chips, salami, carrots, olives and pickle spears, pretzels, kombucha and the makings for my favorite strawberry dessert.
The sliders and the strawberry dish were both light, so I included some ALDI-exclusive Specially Selected Chianti Red Wine Salami and Specially Selected Pinot Grigio Red Wine Salami so we had added protein on-hand in case anyone was still hungry after the other snacks and bites. Another thing that ALDI is known for is featuring local favorites and hot trends. Kombucha is HUGE in California right now, and this Kombucha Wonder Drink quickly became one of my picnic faves.
I even picked up some cutlery, recycled plastic plates and this rad woven rug to put it all on. I love that they have home accessories and must-haves other than food so the store can really be a one-stop mealtime shop.
This is a pregnant lady's dream right here.
For the chicken sliders, I got a head of romaine, Kirkwood Southwestern Chicken Strips, Happy Farms Preferred Basil Feta Cheese Crumbles and ALDI exclusive brand Tuscan Garden Salsa Ranch dressing.
Hesitant about trying a house brand item? ALDI has a Double Guarantee that lets customers get their money back AND get a replacement if they're unsatisfied with any item, for any reason.
Continuing on, our dessert was comprised of just four ingredients: liveGfree Gluten Free Multiseed Sea Salt Crackers, Happy Farms Preferred Honey Goat Cheese, strawberries and dark chocolate. ALDI was originally established in Germany, so we scoped out some incredible German specialties including this Schogetten Dark Chocolate that I grated on top to add a little foreign flair.
The sea salt in the crackers pulls out the sweetness from the rest of the ingredients, perfectly balancing these little bites.
Regular goat cheese can be a little on the tangy side, and opting for honey really added the perfect luscious quality. I can never get enough of the strawberry goat cheese combination, but I think the intricacies and deeper flavors were really perfected with these ingredients.

Baby Minion hung out noshing in his stroller while the other boys ran between our picnic table and the nearby play area. This is oh-so-casual California at its finest.
