Toast today's national holiday with a red white and blue martini!
Now, I know this is a heated subject. Before I get a bunch of “informative” emails, allow me to say that I am well aware that Labor Day technically is not about the military or service members. This day is dedicated to the achievements of ALL American workers. Today stands as a tribute to the contributions that we have made to the strength, prosperity and well-being of the nation. I can totally drink to that. Cheers to the United States!
Red White and Blue Martini
I was at a party in Iowa when a bartender first presented me with this red white and blue martini. Like any sensible person, I marveled over all the beautiful, patriotic colors. “What on earth is this sorcery?” I demanded, explaining that I HAD to share the recipe on my blog.
The dainty drink-shucker smiled and happily shared her secrets with me, as any logical person would because I'm equal parts awesome and persuasive. For all of you readers who would like a drink, you're welcome. This one's on me. In spirit, although probably not in actual real life. Please don't come to my house.

If I pick up something cool like this red white and blue martini every time I go to Iowa…I'm inclined to say I should go to Iowa more often! Right?
Her tip to use a stemmed cherry to layer the ingredients is genius.
Go on and impress your friends with your red white and blue martini skills, or pin it for later. This would make a cool drink for 4th of July or Veteran's Day as well!
How are you showing your patriotism today?
