String cheese is one of our go-to snacks for the boys. On days when they're being picky, a stick of cheese can always be counted on to get some nutrition into their bellies.

I like to use their favorite foods to make cute bentos that keep them engaged in mealtime. This apple face whipped up in about five minutes with some snacktime favorites I found in the fridge.

Saputo Cheese USA, Inc asked me to make a recipe with their Frigo® Cheese Heads® String Cheese and I thought of this apple face after contemplating the nickname of those cheese sticks. Cheesehead. Head of cheese. Tiny head…made with cheese.

Sometimes I seriously question the way my brain works.

Nate said I should have used a non-organic apple so it would look a little more plump and…well…happier. I think my smallish organic pick lends well to the apple face vibe I was going for. She looks a little witchy, don't you think?

String cheese hair is pretty much the best idea I've ever had! The kids asked why her strands were sparse and I said it's because she's going bald like their great grandpa, GG Pa.
