One of our little friends had a BIG party recently. He decided to celebrate the way many kids his age do. With a dinosaur birthday!
Now, I'm going to share a secret with you. This was NOT my first time to the rodeo. This dinosaur birthday was one of many dinosaur birthday parties that we've been to in recent days. As the mother of a toddler in the age of Dinosaur Train, I have a ticket to the hottest shows in town. We've witnessed T-Rexes made out of papier-mâché. I'm not even kidding. It's like the battle of the Etsy shops around here! But this dinosaur party in particular was special because the family stuck to the things of nostalgic childhood dreams. Traditional balloons, favors, bounce houses and bubbles.
Here is how to rock a dinosaur birthday without blowing the budget.
The mom and dad of the party boy scored some cute figurines for their dinosaur birthday. They served as handy weights for the balloons and take-aways that doubled as easy decor. Danger lurked around every beer bottle at this place!
These foam masks are always a huge hit. My favorite part of the afternoon, by far, was the dinosaur egg hunt. All the kids crowded around looking for bumpy little eggs filled with tiny tethyshadros and mini microceratops. Such a clever touch.
We made a mystically cretaceous space with a Gazillion Bubbles machine.
Easy self-serve dishes like dino dip and brachiosaurus baked beans filled the party tables.
And I decided I NEED to have one of these kids' rollercoasters. This thing kept the kiddos entertained endlessly (and helped them learn about taking turns…sort of).
Indoor toys helped the little ones who needed to step inside for a bit of shade…
..while the more rambunctious crew hopped their hadrosaurus energies out in the bounce house.
Just keep in mind that there's bound to be a kid or two who is SO NOT stoked by the whole dinosaur birthday thing. There's always a grumpy gallimimus in the bunch!
