I love food. And I love parties. I'm that person that tries to turn meals into events. We all need to eat, and to me it's awesome to come together with family and friends over food that people have put thought into either by using their favorite flavors or by simply taking the time to cook a dish for people they love. A few weeks ago we had an ice cream social where we took the average ice cream sundae up a notch by making ice cream clowns. My next food party, I've decided, is going to revolve around a french fry bar. It's so easy to set up and yet so fun when people come together over good old-fashioned American food.
Nate and I made our own mini fry bar the other day using crinkle cut fries and sweet potato fries. We wanted to test-run a few flavor combinations before we laid out a whole french fry bar for our friends and family. We tried taco sauce, cheese, mustard, ketchup, bacon crumbles and even ground taco meat! The winning flavor combination was sweet potato fries with bacon crumbles, cheddar cheese and honey dijon mustard. Yum.
Here are all the topping ideas we've come up with for a french fry bar:
Bacon bits
Ground turkey
Ground beef
Shredded chicken
Pulled pork
Cheddar cheese
Feta
Blue cheese crumbles
Ranch
Ketchup
Honey mustard
Dijon Mustard
Regular Mustard
Taco sauce
Chipotle Tabasco
Adobo chile sauce
Apple chipotle aioli
Mrs. Dash
Garlic salt
Onion powder
Jalapeño powder
Paprika
Cinnamon (for sweet potato fries)
Have you ever made a french fry bar?
How about some hot adobo sauce or buffalo wing sauce! Yeeha!
Now I am going to want to have a French fry bar of my own!
I am the same way with food. I plan all events around the meal.
Love the idea of a french fry bar.. yummy.
