I think most parents struggle with bath toy storage when their kids are little. On one hand, I'm incredibly thankful for the floating trinkets that keep my children occupied long enough to de-grime their little limbs.
On the other hand, I'm annoyed by the clutter and totally skeeved out by the idea of trapped moisture and even MOLD that accumulates in the plastic bins that many families use for bath toy storage.
Compound all that with the fact that we have a weird bathing situation for our boys. They have a a shower in their room that gets occasional use for quick rinses, but they prefer soaking in my tub. So I'm stuck hauling bath supplies back and forth.
In case you were wondering…and I know you are…I have no idea why their shower has a handicap rail in it.
None of our home's previous occupants were handicapped.
I also don't why the ceiling is yellow…
…or why there are nearly a dozen command hooks on surfaces inside the shower. We scratched our heads about them at first, and then went on to ignore them for two years.
Until finally, one of the boys' tub toys got snagged on a hook in passing.
Lightbulb moment!
I nabbed a couple plastic-covered wire storage baskets on Amazon and hooked them daintily over the command hooks. The wide slats on the baskets help everything drain easily. No trapped water!
Best of all, I can use baskets of varying sizes dedicated to different purposes. One of our baskets is filled with rinsing cups, washcloths and JOHNSON'S® Baby Head-to-Toe Wash. That's all the boys really need for a quick-and-easy tub dip. We love the tear-free all-over wash, and it's one of the primary products we've used since the boys were born.
I've mentioned that JOHNSON'S® reformulated awhile back to be Paraben-free, Phthalate-free and Hypoallergenic with a moisturizer to help hydrate skin. They also have a Peace of Mind Guarantee, which allows people to try any of their products for 30 days and get a refund if they don't love it. So it's easy to streamline products and minimize bathtub clutter while you're in the midst of corralling all those toys.
