Happy Halloween week! We test-drove our zombie family costume yesterday and I'm thrilled to say it was a huge success.
Our family is going as a bunch of ironic hipster zombies this year. The zombie family costume was so easy: just some funny shirts and a little makeup. Plus, these are outfits that we can re-wear on a non holiday, so we didn't have to drop a bunch of money on stuff we won't use again. There are so many perks to this costume. The kids can get as dirty as they want and it still goes with the creepy undead theme, plus they can layer up or down and it doesn't affect the zombie family costume overall.
This Zombie Family Costume takes just a Few New Items
We're working with Zazzle, and all of the main components of our zombie family costume are from them. My trendy print tank and blood moon trucker hat, Nate's skull shirt, the baby's “zombie snack” onesie, the big boy's “this is my zombie killing shirt” top, the toddler's zombie rule shirt, a zombie brains button and a button I thoroughly plan to wear everywhere declaring that “zombies just want hugs.” We also got a cool x-ray pacifier, but it was a different brand than we usually use and the baby wasn't having it. If your little one likes Booginhead, you should totally check out their custom pacifiers on Zazzle. They are SO cute!
Another thing we learned about babies: zombie makeup doesn't stick to their face. The stuff just slid right off of his baby-soft cheeks. That's okay, though. Zombie babies are a little bit over-the-top creepy.
The toddler loved our zombie family costume. He took to the role with gusto, dragging his feet around and quietly muttering, “Grrrrr, grrrrrrr.”
If you're looking for an alternative family costume that's a little different than all the licensed characters and pirates you usually see in your neighborhood, try this one. It's easy, it's inexpensive and it's a hit! Check out Zazzle's Halloween shop for even more custom ideas, and get ready for the holidays while you're at it. Holiday stamps to save your writing hand? Matching shirts to impress the in-laws? Decor to get your mantle ready? Check, check, check.
