Have you ever made mandarin peel roses?
It is so easy and makes for a beautiful display that lasts for quite awhile as a centerpiece or mantle display. You could even make a whole bouquet of mandarin roses for a loved one!
Most people toss their peels, so we figured we may as well show you something fun to do with them instead. Even if you only wind up twirling your peel around after lunch break, it's an impressive skill that will have friends admiring your crafty talents. For a romantic gesture, leave it on the desk of your significant other – they're sure to smile when they encounter this petite mandarin bloom.
Simply peel your mandarin from top to bottom, leaving the peel connected in one long strip. The width of the peel should be about as thick as the top of your thumb and ideally somewhat uniform throughout its length.
Once the mandarin fruit is removed, roll it back up! Tuck the end of the mandarin peel into itself and then roll it up until you get to the end. About midway through the peel, there is a point at which you have to switch the direction you're rolling and turn the peel in on itself to tuck the end underneath. It feels very natural, and the curves of the mandarin peel will guide you through the process.
Voila!
See? Mandarin peel roses totally look like roses. They smell just as sweet, too. Left out, they eventually dry out but you can extend their life and scent by spritzing them occasionally with water.
Nature has an amazing way of lending itself to multiple uses if you just take the time to think through how its resources can be repurposed. Here, we have a delicious fruit that can also transform into a long-lasting decoration!
